The castle of the Dukes d’Este (Castello Estense) has been for many centuries a symbol of the Italian city of Ferrara in the Emilia-Romagna region. In the 15th century the castle even became the residence of Ferrara dukes, and now all the rooms of the castle are opened for visitors.
In New Year’s Eve in the castle, or rather, over the castle the spectacular New Year fireworks show is annually held. It is created and designed by professional pyrotechnics specially just for New Year’s fireworks and just for this castle. Hundreds and hundreds of colorful comets and fountains of fire during 20 minutes rise in the New Year’s night sky, immersing the entire castle into bright sparks of fireworks.
After the fireworks show, New Year celebration continues in the main square with the music and dance performances of international groups and of course with New Year’s dinners in the numerous local restaurants, offering the guests both traditional and special New Year’s menu.
