The Medieval festival «Bianco Azzurra» is held annually in the Italian town of Castiglion Fiorentino, located 90 km from Florence in the province of Arezzo, Tuscany. The town is located on a hilltop that in medieval times was considered strategically important for the defense against attacks. To enhance security walls and watchtowers preserved to this day were built around the town many centuries ago.
The medieval castle, cobblestoned narrow streets, medieval walls and the medieval tower Cassero (Torre del Cassero), rising over the town, create a natural historical scenery for the medieval feast. And during the festival to the medieval atmosphere of the town they add also colored flags, medieval costumes and the program of medieval events.
The program of the Medieval festival in Castiglione Fiorentino each year is rich and various: equestrian events, jousting tournaments, costumed presentations and medieval parades, medieval market, performances of street musicians and troubadours, and each evening guests are invited to the medieval taverns, where they can taste local Tuscan specialties and wine.
In 2017 the festival will be held on: 26/05-28/05 and 01/06-04/06.
