More than 30 years ago, a group of professional fishermen in the Italian seaside town of Lignano decided to organize the Festival of fish and seafood (Festa delle Cape) and to show to locals and guests all the variety of seafood of north of the Adriatic sea. Currently, the initiative is supported by the forces of the fishing association A.P.S. “Al mare” (Associazione Pescatori Sportivi).
The festival presents all fish and shellfish of the Adriatic Sea: mussels, oysters, cuttlefish, sardines, all kinds of crabs and squid.
Seafood can be tasted right here at the festival – many small cafes offer all the delicacies of the Adriatic, cooked to traditional recipes of the region, for example such as sardines, baked with onions – “sarde in saor“. And then it is possible to buy the most favorite seafood for cooking delicious meals at home.
Fish festival of Lignano is located right near the beach of the resort area of Lignano Pineta, and it opens the spring season of the Adriatic coast resorts.
The festival is held for two weeks at the weekends – Saturday and Sunday.
