The Feast of carts (ital. Festival dei Carretti Siciliani) is the interesting and colorful folk festival in Sicily, where small carts for transportation of food and wine have already for several centuries been one of the symbols of the traditions and folklore of the island.
The festival offers guests riding in carriages drawn by horses and funny donkeys, folk music and dance performances, as well as degustation of a huge variety of Sicilian products and culinary delicacies.
The Feast of carts is held during the period of the festival of folk music – Almond Blossom Festival (ital. Sagra del Mandorlo in Fiore), where in addition to visiting the music competitions of folklore ensembles, festival guests are also welcomed to local restaurants to taste a special menu of delicacies and desserts cooked of almonds.
